Employment Regulations

Employment regulations in the Netherlands have been designed to offer a number of different ways of engaging international talent. This ensures that businesses and organisations in the Netherlands can employ the best skillsets, develop world-class research and invest in highly skilled graduates. Keeping abreast of these regulations and what they mean for established businesses and start-ups is just one of the services our partner Expat Centre Maastricht Region can facilitate.

Talent Coalition

South Limburg (Maastricht Region from an international perspective) has been a collaboration
partner of the national "Talent Coalition" since 2023: an alliance of regions in the Netherlands that focuses its activities on attracting and retaining higher educated international STEM talent (STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics). The Talent Coalition is coordinated by the Netherlands Point of Entry (NPE), part of The Dutch Enterprise Agency (or RVO in Dutch).

The coalition wants to lay out a red carpet for international talent. The coalition therefore develops, builds and promotes concrete initiatives that ensure that international talent is eager to settle in the Netherlands and quickly feel at home. Some of the other Talent Coalition partners are Nuffic, Brainport Eindhoven, The Hague International Centre, International Welcome Centre Utrecht and the International Welcome Centre North.

Since 2023, the Talent Coalition has launched a jobportal on the Talent Coalition's national platform: A clear and simple overview of all employers in the Netherlands with a vacant position for international, higher educated STEM talent.

At the launch of this website the Maastricht Region jobportal was integrated.

Relocation App

The Talent Coalition worked hard on the Welcome to NL Relocation App. This app will be a guide for internationals to make their transition to the Netherlands as smooth as possible, and includes all the steps they will have to take so they know what to arrange before they move to the Netherlands, upon arrival and when settling in.
